Joanna Grymes

Joanna Grymes is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at Arkansas State University’s College of Education & Behavioral Science, where she serves as the Interim Department Chair of Teacher Education. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech, an MS in Individual and Family Studies from the University of Delaware, and a BS in Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech.

Dr. Grymes’ research focuses on the professional development of early childhood educators, bidirectional influences between children and families, and social-emotional development in young children. Her teaching specialties include infant/toddler education, family involvement strategies, and early childhood assessment methodologies.

She is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the Southern Early Childhood Association, Arkansas Early Childhood Association, National Association for the Education of Young Children, and others.
