Joana Faria

Dr Joana Faria is a Lecturer at the Department of Biology, University of York, where she is establishing her research group. Her work focuses on genetic mechanisms of antigenic variation in African trypanosomes and gene expression control in divergent eukaryotes. Funded by a Sir Henry Dale Fellowship (a partnership between the Royal Society and Wellcome Trust), she received extensive institutional support during her application process and secured matched funding from the Department of Biology for future research needs. Recently, she transitioned to a permanent Lectureship, enabling her to supervise PhD students and apply for additional grants.
