Joan Wasserman

Dr. Joan Wasserman is a Professor at the Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). She previously served as Associate Dean for Research at GSN, Director of the Office of Extramural Research Administration (OERA) at NIH’s National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), and Program Officer at NINR. Her career includes roles in grants management, healthcare policy, and academic leadership. Dr. Wasserman holds a DrPH in Health Services Research from UT Health Science Center, an MSN from UT Health School of Nursing, and an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Baruch College.

Her research focuses on health services research, patient-reported outcomes, and addressing healthcare disparities. She has studied hemophilia care reimbursement challenges, stroke survivor quality of life, and chronic disease management strategies.
