Joachim Gassen is a Professor at Humboldt University of Berlin, holding the chair for financial accounting and auditing while serving as head of the Institute of Accounting and Auditing. He concurrently holds a distinguished affiliate professorship at ESMT Berlin and is affiliated with the Center for Financial Reporting and Auditing (CFRA).
His educational background includes:

- Doctorate (Dr. rer. oec) from Ruhr University of Bochum (2000)
- Habilitation from Ruhr University of Bochum (2006)
Professor Gassen's research centers on international accounting standards and their impact on capital market efficiency and corporate governance structures.
