Her research centers on inclusive pedagogical practices with deep specialization in reading fluency deficits among early primary students. She investigates the interplay between rapid automatized naming (RAN), phonological awareness (PA), and reading comprehension outcomes, while developing evidence-based interventions like repeated reading protocols. A strong advocate for equitable education, she pioneers translanguaging strategies to support EAL/D learners and drives systemic inclusive practices through teacher professional development.
Jo actively collaborates with school staff to implement differentiated learning frameworks and provides expert advisory support to educational institutions beyond her CSU role. Her work bridges academic research with classroom application to address diverse student needs.
Jo is embedded within CSU's Inclusive Education team, where she co-develops curricula, conducts applied research on literacy interventions, and partners with schools to translate theoretical frameworks into practical classroom strategies for inclusive environments.
