Professor Jo Brett is a leading academic at the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery, Oxford Brookes University, specializing in psycho-social support for cancer patients, chronic disease care, and healthy ageing. With expertise in qualitative research methods, patient and public involvement, and intervention development, she contributes to national and international cancer survivorship studies.

Her research focuses on supportive cancer care, patient adherence to therapies, and healthy ageing. She co-developed the GRIPP2 reporting guidelines for patient and public involvement in health research and leads grants like the NIHR Programme Grant for Applied Research and ESRC-funded studies.
She teaches qualitative research methods and patient involvement on doctoral and master’s programs, supervising PhD students in Nursing and Midwifery. Her scientific awards include the 2021-2022 Research Excellence Award, and she chairs the Health and Social Care Ethics Committee at Oxford Brookes.
