Jo Blackburn

Jo Blackburn is a Research Fellow in Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention at the Department of Nursing, School of Human and Health Sciences, University of Huddersfield. She is also a member of the Institute of Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention. Actively engaged in research, she supervises PhD students and contributes to academic discourse through publications, presentations, and editorial work.

Research Interests: Her expertise lies in wound care, pressure ulcer prevention, antimicrobial stewardship, surgical site infections, and patient safety. She employs systematic and scoping reviews to evaluate clinical practices and healthcare delivery, with a strong focus on nursing education and evidence-based interventions.

The most recent articles highlight a consistent trend in infection prevention, clinical decision support, and patient-centered wound management. Topics include antimicrobial stewardship in wound care, PPE usability for police, pressure-relieving mattresses, and self-management in lower limb wounds.
