Dr. Yi bridges Chan Buddhism, Kierkegaardian philosophy, Conceptual Metaphor Theory, Tibetan Buddhism, Indian Mahāyāna thought, and early Confucianism. His research explores nonduality, indirect communication, and interfaith engagement, particularly in comparing Buddhist and Western theological concepts. His forthcoming book Knowing/Seeing Truth (Springer, 2025) exemplifies this approach.
His publications and conference presentations highlight interdisciplinary work at the intersection of Buddhist thought, Western philosophy, and cognitive science. Recent talks at the American Philosophical Association and American Academy of Religion emphasize comparative frameworks for religious diversity and existential truth.
