Dr. Jinyu Liu is the Dorothy Barfield Kronzer Endowed Professor in Family Studies and Associate Professor at Baylor University's Diana R. Garland School of Social Work. She holds a PhD from the University of Iowa and has extensive academic credentials including degrees from Peking University and China Women’s University. Her research focuses on aging and health, particularly among Chinese older adults in China and the U.S., emphasizing caregiver stress, intergenerational relationships, and mental health. Dr. Liu’s work is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health and other institutions. She is committed to education, mentorship, and fostering an inclusive learning environment for students.

Research Interests: Aging populations, mental health of older adults, family caregiving stress, intergenerational dynamics, end-of-life care, and cultural influences on health behaviors. Her studies explore how social support systems and cultural norms affect mental health outcomes, especially for marginalized groups like immigrant elderly.
Dr. Liu’s articles analyze topics such as dementia caregiving interventions, pandemic impacts on Asian American seniors, and the role of ethnic enclaves in psychological well-being. She emphasizes translational research to inform policy and community programs.
Teaching & Mentorship: Believes in fostering student respect, encouragement, and inspiration. Advises students on gerontological social work and culturally responsive care practices.
