Dennis Myers is a Professor and The Danny and Lenn Prince Endowed Professor for the Residential Care of Older Adults at the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work, Baylor University. He holds a PhD and MSSW from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA from Baylor University. His research focuses on family caregiving, technology in healthcare, academic leadership in social work education, and issues affecting older adults, including poverty and senior living environments. Dr. Myers has held leadership roles such as Associate Dean of the Master of Social Work program and Director of the Baccalaureate Program in Social Work.
His work intersects with military families, intergenerational relations, and congregational engagement of older adults. He has authored/co-authored 17 peer-reviewed articles since 2013, exploring topics like dementia care, military family resilience, and faith-based interventions. Myers has secured over $1.2 million in grants, including the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation’s ‘Mastering Your Marriage’ initiative and the Bilingual Mental Health Scholarship Program. He serves on multiple boards, including the Texas Nursing Facility Administrator Advisory Committee and the Alzheimer’s Association Board.

Myers’ research emphasizes the role of congregations in supporting aging populations and volunteers, as well as bridging gaps in healthcare access for marginalized groups. His work reflects a commitment to both academic innovation and community-driven solutions.
