Jinsu Ahn

Jinsu Ahn is a Lecturer in Typography, Book Design, and Conceptualization at the Institute Digital Communication Environments (IDCE) within the FHNW Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Basel. He has held this position since 2014, teaching BA and MA programs, and oversees BA proofs of performance and exhibitions. His research focuses on typography, book design, and cross-cultural design strategies.

Education:

• UIC/HGK International Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Graphic Design
• FH diploma in Typography from HGK Basel
• Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication Design from Kyoungpook National University, South Korea

Research Interests:
Jinsu Ahn explores typography's role in cultural and cross-linguistic contexts, particularly Korean typography. His work integrates historical design theory (e.g., translations of Jan Tschichold and Emil Ruder) with contemporary digital design challenges. He emphasizes visual literacy and the intersection of technology with traditional design principles through workshops in the CAS Visual Literacy program.
