معرفی
Jinfan Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he joined as an Endowed Scholar in 2023. His lab employs interdisciplinary approaches to study protein synthesis mechanisms.
Education
- B.S. in Biotechnology, University of Science and Technology Beijing (2010)
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Uppsala University (2016)
Research Focus
The Wang Lab integrates quantitative biochemical, single-molecule biophysical, structural, and genetic approaches to elucidate dynamic mechanisms of cytosolic and mitochondrial protein synthesis. Primary research themes include:
- Ribosome dynamics during translation initiation/elongation
- Mitochondrial protein synthesis regulation
- Single-molecule analysis of translational machinery
- Dysregulation mechanisms in human diseases
Publication Trends
Wang's research demonstrates progressive focus from bacterial translation systems (2014-2018) to eukaryotic and mitochondrial mechanisms (2019-present), with consistent emphasis on ribosomal dynamics using advanced techniques like single-molecule FRET. Recent work explores viral translation inhibition and mitochondrial-specific processes.
Honors & Awards
- Endowed Scholar, UT Southwestern Medical Center (2023)
- Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship (2016)
Lab Development
The Wang Lab is actively recruiting graduate students, technicians, postdocs, and scientists to build an interdisciplinary team focused on translation mechanisms.
