Dr. Jinchao Gu is a Research Fellow in the Department of Neuroscience at Monash University, affiliated with the School of Translational Medicine. He holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Swinburne University of Technology (2018–2023), focusing on GABAA receptors in neuronal models. His research specializes in generating in vitro neuronal cell models using human pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) to study epilepsy and other neurological disorders.
Key technical expertise includes molecular cloning, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and rapid neural differentiation from hiPSCs. He contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through advancements in disease modeling and drug screening.
Dr. Gu is a Chief Investigator in the 2022–2027 project "Pre-clinical evaluation of selective adenosine A1 receptor positive allosteric modulators for drug-resistant epilepsy," collaborating with multiple institutions. His recent publications (2021–2024) emphasize stem cell differentiation, transposon systems, and CRISPR applications in neuroscience.
