Jinaeng Choi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of Houston, specializing in Korean literature and culture. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in Asian Languages and Cultures, an M.A. from SUNY Stony Brook in Hispanic Languages and Literature, and another M.A. from Korea University in Spanish Language and Literature.
Her research focuses on the literature of Korean Latin American communities in the 19th and 20th centuries, examining intersections between nation-building, migration histories, and cultural pluralism. She situates her work within broader interdisciplinary debates on borders and intellectual traditions. Dr. Choi teaches courses on Korean literature and culture and is currently completing a book project on transnational literary communities.
