Heejeong Sohn is an Advanced Senior Lecturer in the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies at Stony Brook University and Director of the Korean Studies Program. She holds a Ph.D. from Stony Brook University (2014). Her roles include Assistant Director of the Center for Korean Studies, Director of NSLI-Y Summer Program, Korean Language Teacher Education Program, and Korean Language Program. Her research focuses on modern Korean history, visual culture, missionary studies, gender, and language pedagogy.
Education: Ph.D. in History, Stony Brook University (2014).
Research interests integrate photography studies, digital humanities, and language policies in Korea. Notable projects include analyzing missionary photography's gendered perspectives and developing technology-enhanced language curricula. She teaches courses on Korean culture, history, and language pedagogy, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches.
Publications span 2011–2018, focusing on visual culture, art criticism, and language education innovations. She actively contributes to Korean language education programs and cultural exchange initiatives.
