Hongkyung Kim is a Professor in the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies at Stony Brook University and Director of the Center for Korean Studies. He holds a Ph.D. from Sungkyunkwan University (1993) and specializes in East Asian intellectual and religious history, with particular focus on Confucianism, Daoism, and Korean thought. His research examines textual formation of foundational texts like the Laozi and the Analects of Dasan, as well as inter-religious dynamics in premodern Korea.
