Jin-Yu Shao is a Professor and Director of Doctoral Studies in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, affiliated with the McKelvey School of Engineering. He holds a PhD from Duke University (1997), an MS from Peking University (1991), and a BS from Peking University (1988).
His research focuses on developing techniques in cellular and molecular engineering, particularly biomechanics and protein-protein interactions. His group pioneered the Micropipette Aspiration Technique (MAT), capable of applying femtonewton-to-nanonewton forces to single proteins and cells. This work integrates theoretical modeling with experimental approaches to study infectious and inflammatory diseases.
Affiliations include the Division of Biology & Biomedical Sciences. For more details, visit his lab website or view his Google Scholar profile.
