Shao Huilin is a Professor at National University of Singapore (NUS), specializing in biomedical engineering and nanotechnology. He holds dual PhDs in Biophysics (Harvard University) and Medical Engineering (Harvard-MIT HST), along with a dual BA in Biological Sciences and Physics from Cornell University.
His research focuses on developing advanced diagnostic tools using circulating biomarkers (exosomes, extracellular vesicles) and nanomaterials. Key areas include point-of-care assays, microfluidic systems, and highly sensitive sensors (magnetic/optical/electrical). Recent work emphasizes real-time monitoring of cancer therapies via extracellular vesicle analysis.
Notable contributions include the 'Nano-plasmonic exosome diagnostics' platform and barcoded DNA nanostructures for multiplexed protein profiling. His team's publications span Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Communications, and Chemical Reviews, demonstrating expertise in integrating nanotechnology with clinical applications.
Dr. Shao actively recruits motivated researchers via email: huilin.shao@nus.edu.sg. Current projects include wearable sweat sensors and hyper-responsive mechanical metamaterials for molecular profiling.
