Dr Jim Wolfreys is a Reader in French and European Politics at King's College London, based in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures within the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. He joined King's in 1994 and helped establish the BA and MA in European Studies and the Department of European and International Studies. His research focuses on French politics, fascism, racism, and Islamophobia, with a particular emphasis on the far right and neoliberalism. He holds a PhD from Liverpool University on the resurgence of the far right in France. Wolfreys has authored influential works, including Republic of Islamophobia, and his research earned the Oliver Cromwell Cox Book Award for Anti-Racist Scholarship. He has supervised over a dozen PhD students and remains active in anti-racist politics and trade unionism.
