Dr. Jim Dalton is a Professor of Accounting at the Jetter School of Professional Studies, Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU). He has held this position since 1997 and previously served as an Assistant Professor (1981-86, 1988-91). He is also the Owner/Partner of MDS CPA Review Course, a CPA review course provider, since 1999. Dalton holds an EdD in Adult Education (Nova Southeastern University, 1994), an MA in Accounting (Avila College, 1981), and a BA in Management (MVNU, 1977).
His professional interests span accounting education, CPA exam preparation, and church financial management. He has authored multiple CPA review textbooks and led workshops on church financial stewardship since 1994. Dalton is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He has received numerous awards, including the Richard C. Chewning Award (2018) for integrating faith and business ethics, and the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (1985). His career includes roles as Treasurer of Grove City Church of the Nazarene (1991-present) and Controller at institutions such as Mid-America Nazarene College (1978-1981).
Notable contributions include 20+ years of CPA review instruction via Becker and MDS courses, and leadership in both academic and church financial governance.
