Jim Cosgrave is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Trent University’s Durham Campus. He holds a BA (Hons), MA, and PhD in Social and Political Thought from York University. His research focuses on the sociology of gambling, state regulation of markets, and Canadian cultural identity. Current projects include studies on cannabis legalization, lotteries in late capitalism, and a book on gambling and social theory.
