Jim Bottum serves as Research Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University while holding dual executive roles as Chief Information Officer and Vice Provost for Computing & Information Technology. He directs the university's strategic initiatives in high-performance computing, cyberinfrastructure development, and national technology partnerships.
His educational credentials include a B.A. in Political Science (1976) and Professional Certification in Urban and Regional Planning (1976), both from Florida State University.
Dr. Bottum's research spans High-Performance Computing, Cyberinfrastructure, and Educational Technology with emphasis on computational resource deployment. His leadership established Clemson's Palmetto Cluster (ranked #60 globally in Top500) and Computational Center for Mobility Systems (CU-CCMS), demonstrating expertise in large-scale research infrastructure.
