Dr. Sean B. Cleveland serves as Director of Research Cyberinfrastructure for the University of Hawaii (UH) System Information Technology Services and holds an Affiliate Researcher position at the Hawaii Data Science Institute. He additionally co-chairs the Campus Research Computing Consortium (CaRCC) interest group and participates in the NSF center for excellence for science gateways leadership team.

His research focuses on enabling scientific acceleration through cyberinfrastructure, with core expertise in science gateways, high-performance computing, bioinformatics, and AI-driven data science. He develops scalable computational solutions to empower researchers across diverse disciplines.
As Principal Investigator, he leads NSF-funded initiatives including Cyberinfrastructure Pacific Professionals (CI-PP), the Tapis Framework, and Koa high-performance computing resources. He also co-leads Cyberinfrastructure Training to Advance Environmental Science (CITRACS) and Change-HI projects while serving as Cyberinfrastructure Lead for the Hawaii Climate Data Portal and Ike Wai Gateway.
Dr. Cleveland manages a dedicated team comprising cyberinfrastructure specialists, research software engineers, and data science professionals within UH's Information Technology Services.
