Jillian Rogers is an Assistant Professor of Musicology at the University of Florida’s School of Music. Her research focuses on grief, trauma, and sound in classical and popular music cultures of Europe and the U.S., particularly in French modernism and interdisciplinary studies. She earned a BM in Horn Performance from the University of Denver, an MFA from Brandeis University, and a PhD from UCLA.
Her book Resonant Recoveries: French Music and Trauma Between the Wars (2021) explores interwar French musical modernism as a response to WWI trauma. Current projects include studies on French musical women’s negotiations of trauma and gender politics, and traumatic experiences in U.S. music institutions. She is also a digital humanities scholar, leading the Sonic Histories of Cork City Project and Sonic Constellations, mapping interwar French soundscapes and social networks.
Rogers has held positions at Indiana University (2019–2024, 2015–16), University College Cork (2016–19), and UCLA (2009–15). She serves as Review Editor for the Journal of the American Musicological Society and has received grants like the IU Presidential Arts & Humanities Production Grant and AAUW Postdoctoral Fellowship.
