Jillian Moroney serves as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Urban Studies and Community Development within Boise State University's School of Public Service, teaching core courses including Urban Studies and Community Development, Planning and the Environment, Sustainable Cities, and Capstone projects.
She earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Science and M.A. in Bioregional Planning and Community Design from the University of Idaho, complemented by a B.A. in Geology from Western Washington University, establishing deep regional expertise in Idaho's natural resource systems.
Her research critically examines societal interactions with natural resources through social assessment and stakeholder engagement methodologies, specializing in bioenergy feasibility, forestry practices, irrigation systems, and farmland management. Major projects include the Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance (NARA) analyzing Pacific Northwest wood-to-biojetfuel supply chains and the Treasure Valley Water Atlas integrating biogeophysical and social perspectives on Idaho's water movement.
As an Idaho native conducting home-state research, Dr. Moroney bridges academic inquiry with community development through interdisciplinary collaboration on sustainable resource governance.
