Jill Russell is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Miami, Ohio. She serves as Chair of the Curriculum Committee and member of the Health Professions Advisory Committee. A Miami alumna, she specializes in neuroscience and zoology, focusing on teaching human anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Russell co-operates Miami’s bird banding station at Hueston Woods State Park and is a Co-Principal Investigator on a $500K NSF-funded project studying permafrost effects on Arctic agriculture. Her podcast, Dr Russell Talks Patho, has global reach, and she leads birding expeditions internationally.
Her research spans anatomy through cadaver lab studies, ornithology via bird-banding projects, and environmental science through Arctic agriculture research. She mentors graduate teaching assistants and advises the Oozma Kappa Sophomore Nursing Living Learning Community. Russell is a frequent speaker at conferences and civic events, appearing on NPR broadcasts, and actively engages in pre-health student outreach.
