Dr. Jill Chorney is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. She is affiliated with the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research at the IWK Health Centre. Her research focuses on shared decision-making, implementation science, pediatric pain, and healthcare systems improvement. Dr. Chorney holds leadership roles as an Advance Practice Leader in Behaviour Change at the IWK Health Centre and is part of the Mental Health and Addictions Leadership Team.
Education: BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Dalhousie University, MA and PhD in Clinical Child Psychology from West Virginia University, followed by residency at Brown University and a fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine.
Research interests emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in translating research into clinical practice. Her work spans patient-provider interactions, treatment adherence, and chronic pain management. She has contributed to studies on mobile health applications, parental involvement in child health research, and perioperative care.
Awards include the Canadian Institutes of Health Research New Investigator Award (2011–2016) and the IWK Health Centre Research Leadership Award (2016). She supervises PhD students in Psychology and Neuroscience and has served on the IWK Research Ethics Board.
