Research Interests
Professor Yeon’s scholarship explores how corporate social responsibility and environmental-social-governance (ESG) initiatives translate into financial performance and policy outcomes within hospitality and tourism enterprises. His work combines advanced econometric techniques—such as difference-in-differences—with institutional theory to evaluate strategic interventions ranging from short-term rental regulations to restaurant sustainability disclosures.
Research Trends
Across his recent publications (2023–2025), a clear trend emerges: rigorous empirical assessment of digital platforms’ (e.g., Airbnb) externalities on housing and hotel markets, alongside nuanced investigations into how top-management diversity and institutional investor presence moderate CSR–performance relationships. These studies collectively advance sustainable development goal (SDG) debates by linking firm-level governance choices to macro-level societal impacts.
Teaching & Mentorship
At Sejong University, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses including Hospitality Management Principles, Hotel & Tourism Financial Accounting (English-medium), Exhibition Industry Digital Transformation Seminar, and Major Exploration for Sejong People, guiding students toward both academic research and industry careers.
Laboratory & Collaboration
He leads an active research team examining CSR and ESG dynamics in hospitality contexts, fostering collaborations with scholars in the UK, US, and across Asia. The lab regularly disseminates findings at major conferences such as APTA and the Global Hospitality and Tourism Research Summit.
