Jie Liu

Dr Jie Liu is a Reader in Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School within the Department of Marketing, Retail and Tourism. She holds academic leadership roles, including Deputy Head of Department and former Associate Head of the Department of Business and Management. Her work focuses on cross-cultural education, curriculum modernization, and enhancing international student engagement in UK higher education.

She has led major initiatives such as the quinquennial review of undergraduate marketing programs, achieving high student satisfaction (94.1% NSS in 2019), and managed the transition to online block teaching during the pandemic. Jie is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Certified Management & Business Educator, reflecting her expertise in educational leadership.

Her research explores international student experiences, particularly their adaptation to UK academic frameworks and assessment practices. She has authored chapters in Pearson's global marketing textbooks and contributed to program validations at UK and overseas institutions.
