Dr Leah Gillooly is a Reader in Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School, within the Department of Marketing, International Business & Tourism. She specializes in sports marketing, with expertise in sports sponsorship and fan behavior. Her roles include Research-informed Teaching Lead (2024–present), Knowledge Platform Lead for Market Transformations (2023–present), and Postgraduate Research Lead (2021–2023). She has served as an external examiner for the University of Liverpool's MSc Sports Business Management (2017–2021) and has advised on DBA/MA theses globally.
Her research explores sponsorship governance in esports, fan reactions to event disruptions, volunteer socialization in sports clubs, and corporate naming rights in stadia. She consults for organizations like UK Sport and British Orienteering and has been recognized with awards from the Emerald Literati Network for her contributions to academic review and paper excellence. Dr Gillooly is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and serves on editorial boards for journals such as European Sport Management Quarterly and Sport, Business & Management.
