Jiayi Meng

Jiayi Meng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington, where he has been teaching since September 2023. His academic career includes a Research Intern position at AT&T Research Labs from June to August 2019.

Dr. Meng received his PhD in Computer Science from Purdue University in 2023, following a BS in Computer Science & Technology from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2016.

Dr. Meng's research focuses on Systems and Networking, with particular emphasis on Mobile Systems and Mobile Networking. His work spans several cutting-edge areas including VR/AR/MR, mobile/edge computing, and 4G/5G and beyond cellular networks. His research has significantly advanced edge-assisted augmented reality systems and cellular network traffic modeling, with practical applications for immersive computing and next-generation wireless networks.

Dr. Meng has received several prestigious awards including the ACM EdgeSys Best Paper Award (2022), Best Paper Award (Runners Up) at ACM IMC 2023, Rising STARs Award from the University of Texas System (2023), and Rising STARs Sub-Award (2024). He has also received the Departmental REU Award from the Computer Science and Engineering Department at UTA.

As an advisor, Dr. Meng has chaired multiple dissertation committees and serves on numerous others, guiding PhD students in areas related to mobile systems and networking. He has been actively involved in professional service, serving on program committees for major conferences including EuroSys, SIGCOMM, and SOSP, and has co-chaired the SOSP Artifact Evaluation Committee (2023).

Dr. Meng is a member of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (since December 2023) and the Association for Computing Machinery (since January 2023), demonstrating his commitment to the broader academic community.
