Jiaxin Liu is a Lecturer in Social and Public Policy at the University of York's School for Business and Society (since July 2023). Previously held a Lecturer position in Gerontology at the University of Southampton. She holds a PhD in Social Policy and Social Work from the University of York, MSc in Social Policy from LSE, and BA in Labour and Social Security from Renmin University of China.

Her research focuses on aging populations, social policy, and intergenerational family dynamics in China/East Asia. Key themes include public pensions, family support systems, and mixed-method research. Recent work examines gender dynamics in intergenerational support across welfare regimes. Advocates for integrating qualitative and quantitative methods in social sciences.
Teaching includes campus-based and online modules such as Policy Think Tank Research, Researching Policy and Society, and Exploring Policy Research.
