Jiacheng Liu is an Assistant Professor in the History Department at the University of Northern Colorado. He holds a Ph.D. in History from Carnegie Mellon University (2016), where his training emphasized interdisciplinary approaches integrating anthropology, performance studies, and gender studies. His research focuses on actresses and urban publics in early 20th-century Beijing, reflecting a commitment to exploring cultural and social dynamics in modern China.
During his graduate studies, Liu developed strong pedagogical skills through teaching roles as both a teaching assistant and instructor. He credits Carnegie Mellon's supportive academic community, particularly mentors Prof. Donald Sutton and Prof. Paul Eiss, for shaping his intellectual growth and teaching philosophy.
Liu's current work includes preparing a book manuscript that builds on his doctoral research, demonstrating an ongoing engagement with innovative methodologies and unsupervised scholarly exploration.
