Dr. Jia Wang is a Lecturer in Law at the Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law, Swansea University, since 2023. She holds an LLB in Maritime Law from Dalian Maritime University, two LLMs in Maritime Law from Dalian Maritime University and the University of Nottingham, and a PhD from the University of Nottingham (2023). Before joining Swansea, she worked as a Teaching Associate at the University of Nottingham (2021–2023), teaching English Contract Law and Public Law. Her research focuses on socio-legal and comparative studies, marine insurance law (particularly SMEs in insurance), legal transplantation, and legal globalization. Teaching expertise includes marine insurance law, international trade law, and carriage of goods by sea.
Research interests emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to legal frameworks affecting maritime commerce and insurance. She is a member of the Society of Legal Scholars and a peer reviewer for the Global Journal of Comparative Law. Her work bridges theoretical legal analysis with practical implications for international trade and marine operations.
Dr. Wang’s academic contributions span socio-legal analysis and comparative law, with a focus on ensuring equitable legal protections in maritime contexts. Her teaching and research aim to address contemporary challenges in global legal systems, particularly within maritime and transnational trade frameworks.
