Jesus Gil is a Professor of Cell Proliferation at the Institute of Clinical Sciences within the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. His research focuses on cellular senescence, its molecular mechanisms, and therapeutic applications in age-related pathologies and cancer. He leads a lab combining high-throughput screens, in vivo mouse models, and clinical sample analyses to uncover (epi)genetic regulators of senescence and the senescence-associated secretory programme (SASP).

Research interests include:
- Uncovering genetic/epigenetic mechanisms controlling senescence
- Elucidating SASP's roles in inflammation, fibrosis, and disease
- Identifying vulnerabilities in senescent cells for senolytic therapies
Collaborations with pharmaceutical companies aim to translate findings into clinical treatments for cancer and age-related conditions. His work bridges basic science and translational medicine, emphasizing senescence as both a tumor suppressor and contributor to chronic diseases.
