Jesus Antonio Renzullo Narvaez

Jesus Antonio Renzullo Narvaez is a Research Fellow at the GIGA Institute for Latin American Studies and a Doctoral Researcher at Hamburg University’s CLICCS Excellence Cluster (Program B3). His work focuses on the geoeconomics of the energy transition, climate-conflict linkages, and Latin American political dynamics. He also serves as an External Consultant for Eurasia Group and holds memberships in the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab and CLICCS. Renzullo holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the Willy Brandt School (2022) and a Bachelor’s in International Affairs from the Central University of Venezuela (2018).

Research Interests: His interdisciplinary research bridges climate policy, geopolitical shifts, and conflict analysis. Recent work explores how climate change impacts global supply chains and exacerbates political instability. He has published on Venezuela’s maritime infrastructure, cocoa sector monopolization, and democratic transitions in authoritarian regimes.

Media & Awards: Renzullo has been featured in Deutsche Welle Spanish, Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen, and Radio Corax discussing Venezuela’s 2024 elections and climate-security linkages. He received the Academic Merit Award (Willy Brandt School, 2021) and DAAD Helmut-Schmidt Scholarship (2020).

Projects: Leads the CLICCS B3 project on climate-conflict dynamics and participates in the GIGA’s Digital Transformation Lab (DigiTraL). Collaborates with the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro on climate obstruction in Global South foreign policies.
