Jessie van Eerden is Associate Professor at Hollins University, teaching fiction and nonfiction with focus on spiritual narrative and Appalachian voices. Her work merges literary craft with ethical inquiry, often exploring faith and region.
Van Eerden's The Long Weeping won the Foreword INDIES Essay Award, while Call It Horses secured the Dzanc Books Fiction Prize. She received a 2021 NEA Fellowship and directs community writing initiatives including ekphrastic workshops.
