Erin Murphy is Professor of English at Penn State Altoona (Altoona College, Pennsylvania State University), where she also serves as Director of Promotion and Tenure in Academic Affairs. She holds additional roles as Poetry Editor of The Summerset Review and Poet Laureate of Blair County, Pennsylvania. Murphy earned her Bachelor's degree in English with a Philosophy minor from Washington College and an MFA in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Her research spans poetry, creative nonfiction, medical humanities, docupoetics, labor studies, and creative writing pedagogy. She has published over a dozen books including Human Resources (2025), Fluent in Blue (2024), Taxonomies (2022), and edited anthologies like Bodies of Truth: Personal Narratives on Illness, Disability, and Medicine which won the Foreword INDIES Gold Medal.
