Jessie Williams is an Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She is a citizen of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and currently serves as Dean of Indigenous Initiatives at Vancouver Community College, advancing Indigenization initiatives and building partnerships with Indigenous communities. Previously, she held roles including Director of Indigenous Relations at SFU’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Manager of Education for her Nation, and Director of Business Development and Communications at the New Relationship Trust.
With a BBA and a Master’s in Educational Administration and Leadership in Indigenous Education, her career focuses on empowering Indigenous presence and perspectives. She is Vice-Chair of the Minerva BC Foundation, advancing gender parity, and a frequent speaker on equity and Indigenous methodologies. Her work emphasizes reconciliation, decolonization, and fostering unity across sectors.
