University of Pittsburghمعرفی
Jessie Van Swearingen is a Professor at the Department of Physical Therapy within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. As a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) and researcher, she focuses on understanding neural efficiency and walking efficiency, the mechanisms underlying motor skill of walking, and the development of interventions to restore neuromotor control in older adults.
Education:
- PhD
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
Research Interests:
Her work centers on enhancing walking efficiency and motor control in aging populations. She investigates neural mechanisms that contribute to walking performance and designs interventions to restore motor skills in older adults, particularly those with mobility impairments.
Scientific Awards:
- Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association
- Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America
