Jessie Johnson-Cash is Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery at University of the Sunshine Coast's School of Health. She coordinates the Bachelor of Midwifery program and leads initiatives supporting student wellbeing through innovative pedagogies.
Her research examines physiological birth promotion, perinatal mental health, and student support systems. Johnson-Cash developed Student Midwife Support Circles to build professional identity and resilience through ritual practices.
Publications and presentations explore midwife-mother relationships, clinical decision-making in perineal management, and innovative approaches to student support. Current research evaluates sensory sensitivity impacts on breastfeeding cessation.
Awarded Higher Education Academy Fellowship (2023) for teaching excellence, she integrates trauma-informed principles into curriculum design and student mentorship.
