Susie Moore is an Associate Professor in Midwifery at Swansea University's Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science, School of Health and Social Care. She is based in Office 124, First Floor, Vivian Building, Singleton Campus, and is available for postgraduate supervision.
Dr. Moore specializes in several key areas of midwifery practice and education:
- Supporting normal birth practices
- Preventing and treating birth trauma
- Enhancing pregnancy and birth experiences for women with complex needs
- Perineal care, repair and suturing
- Sustainable midwifery education
Her teaching focuses on complex needs in pregnancy, supporting normal birth practices, preventing and treating birth trauma, complex and urgent maternity care, and enhancing pregnancy and birth experiences for women with complex needs. She teaches multiple modules including Introduction to Maternity Care (SHM111), Pregnancy and the Professional Midwife (SHM136), The Journey to Birth (SHM137), Additional Care for Women with Complex Needs (SHM248), Parenting and Neonatal Care (SHM249), Using Research to Inform Practice (SHM326), Preparing for Professional Practice (SHM327), and Becoming a Midwife - the Final Push (SHM328).
Her research publications demonstrate a strong focus on innovative teaching methods in midwifery education, with particular emphasis on peer teaching approaches, effective use of placement resources, and blended learning techniques. These works reflect her commitment to improving both student learning experiences and ultimately patient care through educational innovation.
