Jessica Wikle is a Researcher and Manager of the UVM Research Forests at the University of Vermont's Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. She holds a Ph.D. (2024) in Natural Resources from UVM, an M.S. in Forest Science from Yale (2018), a B.S. in Forestry from the University of New Hampshire (2009), and an A.A. from Bard Early College at Simon’s Rock (2002). Her work bridges applied forest management and ecological research, focusing on silvicultural techniques, forest structure resilience, and climate adaptation strategies.
Her research emphasizes practical applications, such as enhancing forest structural diversity to meet societal goals, and communicating findings to practitioners. She teaches courses in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Woodlot Management, Wildland Fire, and Forest Ecosystem Analysis. Key areas of expertise include silviculture, forest ecology, and forest management.
Her recent publications (2019–2024) address timber harvesting impacts, climate adaptation in northern hardwood forests, and soil carbon dynamics. She actively engages students in real-world problem-solving and oversees outreach initiatives at the UVM Research Forests, promoting experiential learning and community engagement.
