معرفی
Jessica Verpeut is an Assistant Professor of behavioral neuroscience in the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University (ASU). She holds affiliations with the School of Life Sciences as an Undergrad Neuroscience Mentor and the ASU-Banner Neurodegenerative Disease Research Center as Associate Faculty. Her research focuses on cerebellar function, addiction, and aging, utilizing rodent models and machine learning to study neural circuits and behavior across life stages. Dr. Verpeut earned her B.S. in Psychology and Animal Science from Pennsylvania State University (2010), a Ph.D. in Endocrinology and Animal Biosciences from Rutgers University (2015), and completed postdoctoral training at Princeton University, funded by the New Jersey Brain Injury Research Committee.
Her research interests include mapping cerebello-cortical connections, understanding sensitive developmental periods for neural disorders like autism, and investigating age-related neural changes in addiction vulnerability. She has secured awards such as the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centers REC Fellowship and the Nancy Eisenberg Junior Faculty Scholar Award. Dr. Verpeut is actively involved in editorial roles for JoVE and Frontiers in Computational Neuroscience, and serves on professional bodies like the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience.
Her lab, the SOCIAL Lab, studies neural circuits from cerebellar cortex to social behavior, emphasizing machine learning for behavioral analysis. She teaches courses in psychology and neuroscience, including honors thesis supervision and undergraduate research. Current research themes include cerebellar contributions to flexible behavior, neural circuit maturation, and sex differences in brain aging.
