Adam Brockett is an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of New Hampshire's College of Life Sciences and Agriculture. His research focuses on how experiences like exercise and drug use shape cognitive flexibility and brain health across the lifespan. He employs systems and molecular neuroscience techniques to study neural mechanisms underlying decision-making and inhibitory control.
Education: Ph.D. in Psychology and Neuroscience from Princeton University.
Research Interests include behavioral neuroscience, drug abuse, aging, and the role of exercise in brain plasticity. His lab explores how experiences modulate brain circuits involved in cognitive flexibility, with implications for combating age-related cognitive decline.
Recent work highlights neural signals in the nucleus accumbens and prefrontal cortex during stop-change tasks, as well as molecular interventions (e.g., Pillar[6]MaxQ) targeting drug abuse. Collaborative studies with chemists and neuroscientists advance translational research in addiction and neuroprotection.
Labs/Teams: Brain & Experience Lab actively recruits graduate students and postdocs to investigate experience-dependent plasticity and its clinical applications.
