معرفی
Professor Jessica Teeling is a Professor of Experimental Neuroimmunology at the University of Southampton's School of Biological Sciences. Her research focuses on the role of systemic inflammation, the oral and gut microbiome, and bacterial infections in neurodegenerative diseases. She leads projects investigating Alzheimer’s, dementia with Lewy bodies, and Parkinson’s disease, using clinical samples, post-mortem tissue, and in vitro/in vivo models to study neural function and inflammation. Current research groups include the Neuroscience Institute for Life Sciences and the Interdisciplinary Dementia and Ageing Centre.
Teaching responsibilities include coordinating BIOL2022 (immunology for undergraduates) and BIOL3058 (Bioscience and Business), covering topics like innate immunity, Toll-like receptors, and drug discovery. She supervises multiple PhD students and actively seeks candidates for neuroimmunology-related projects. Key collaborations include the Alzheimer’s Society, The Lewy Body Society, and Fight for Sight.
Notable projects include the RESIST study on rheumatoid arthritis and cognitive decline, and the HOpE project developing optical biomarkers for dementia diagnosis. Her work integrates interdisciplinary approaches, such as biomarker analysis and microbiome studies, to advance immunotherapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases.
