Jessica Samuel is a Postdoctoral Fellow in AFAS at Washington University in St. Louis, with a Ph.D. in American & New England Studies from Boston University. Her work bridges race, education, and environmental equity, focusing on their intersections in the United States and the Caribbean. She uses research to inform consulting, political activism, and program development aimed at equitable policies.

Research & Advocacy Jessica’s research interrogates conservation colonialism in the U.S. Virgin Islands, particularly its impact on educational systems. She emphasizes the holistic development of humans and advocates for the liberation of marginalized communities through authentic connection and policy reform.
