Jessica Rosenberg is an Associate Professor in the Physics & Astronomy Department at George Mason University, serving as Director of Education for the Quantum Science and Engineering Center. She holds a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Massachusetts (2000) and a BA in Physics and Astronomy from Wesleyan University (1993). Her research bridges astrophysics and STEM education, focusing on galaxy evolution through HI surveys and expanding evidence-based teaching practices across undergraduate and graduate levels.
In astrophysics, she leads the ALFAZOA Survey exploring galaxy evolution in the Zone of Avoidance using Arecibo Telescope data. Her education work includes NSF-funded initiatives like the 'Building a Culture of Active Learning' project and developing quantum literacy programs for diverse STEM students. She co-founded the Undergraduate ALFALFA Team, fostering student research and faculty development in radio astronomy.
Rosenberg has authored over 50 publications spanning observational astronomy and pedagogy. Awards include the NSF CAREER Award and Mason Emerging Researcher Award. She advises the Quantum Materials Center's education strategy and collaborates with national initiatives to prepare quantum workforce pipelines.
