She collaborates with the Department of Engineering on the 'DELONELINESS' project, focusing on designing smart systems to combat loneliness in older adults. This interdisciplinary initiative integrates social gerontology, psychology, product design, and artificial intelligence.
Her research expertise includes qualitative methodologies, psychological aspects of health and ageing, and technology applications in healthcare for older populations. Jessica holds a PhD from University College London, where her doctoral work explored dementia management in long-term conditions. Previously, she served as a Research Fellow in Ageing and Multi-morbidity at the Applied Research Collaboration East of England, investigating technology-driven healthcare improvements for older adults.
Her work extends to cross-disciplinary projects, such as King’s pavilion 'Seeking Connection' at the 2023 London Design Biennale, showcasing digital technologies addressing societal challenges. She co-led workshops with minoritized communities to explore cultural perspectives on loneliness, as highlighted in the 'Connect and Cope with Loneliness' event (October 2023).
Jessica’s research aims to bridge technology and social sciences to enhance quality of life for ageing populations, emphasizing mental health and socially inclusive design solutions.
