Jessica R. Methot, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management at Rutgers University's School of Management and Labor Relations and a Distinguished Research Professor at the University of Exeter Business School. She serves as Director of the Rutgers IRHR PhD Program and is a founding member of the Exeter Centre for Social Networks. Dr. Methot earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Florida's Warrington College of Business.
Her research examines interpersonal workplace relationships and social network dynamics, with specific focus on:
- How formal HR practices transform informal social networks
- Functional/dysfunctional consequences of workplace relationships
- Temporal and multidimensional aspects of work relationships
- Emotional dimensions of coworker interactions
- Work-nonwork boundary management
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on relational dynamics in organizations, evolving from foundational studies on workplace friendships (2016) to contemporary explorations of remote work communication (2021) and leadership network brokerage (2024).
